Hotel and Location

Set in the magical environment of the Cotswold Water Park – over 40 square miles of lakes, woodland and rivers just outside of Cirencester. This is an area of natural beauty and just teeming with wildlife.

The layout of  the Four Pillars hotel is wonderful. Nearly all of the bedrooms and suites face out to the lakes and you really feel you are on your own. It is so peaceful. This is the view from our lounge at dusk as a flock of birds danced in the sky above us for half an hour –

Sleeps

For families they have interconnecting bedrooms and we stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a lounge and kitchen which was perfect. It meant we had the space within the lounge for relaxing during the day, and we didn’t disturb the children went they went to bed.

The kitchen area was perfect for us to be able to prepare lunch in and had everything we needed – oven, dishwasher, microwave etc

It was really well set with two bathrooms and super comfy beds…I really didn’t want to get out of bed! (If only with 3 small children!!)

Food

Breakfast at the Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars was brilliant – as vegetarians we could order veggie sausages and omelettes and there was a great selection of other hot food – hash browns, beans, eggs etc as well as the bacon and sausages for meat eaters. They had all the cereals you would want as well as breads for toast, jams and a selection of croissants and pastries. It really did set us up for the day.

We also ate dinner in the Brasserie which was delicious. The children’s meal was full of fresh and well presented veggies. They also had drawing and activity sheets.

The beetroot carpaccio was so tasty!

And the rasberry sorbet was so delicious. Our 2 year old was particularly fond of his ice cream and chocolate sauce!

The Best Bits

Going to the Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars really is getting away from it all. Despite being really easy to get to from motorway links, as soon as you arrive  you’re surrounded by lakes and the wildlife and you can’t but relax. We had swans coming up to just outside our door and all of us sat and watched the wonderful view from the lounge as often as we could.

Worth Bearing in Mind

Some of the rooms are a short walk from the main reception. Personally we loved these walks, on the way back from dinner we saw rabbits hopping around the grass which our 6 and 4 year olds just loved and there are little golf buggies you can hitch a lift with if it’s raining.

Child-friendly?

Definitely. They have a lovely pool which has set times for children to swim.

The best bit was the nature all around. They have a brilliant walk around one of the lakes which was so lovely – we spotted fish in the river and beautiful birds over the lake. I imagine in Summer it’s even more amazing.
