UK tips – The beaches around Padstow, Cornwall

Posted on September 24, 2013

There is nothing better than to blow away the cobwebs with an Autumnal trip to Cornwall. It’s my favourite time to see the County when many of the tourists have retreated but the weather can still be wonderful.

So my top three favourite beaches around Padstow are –

1. Constantine Bay

With a huge swathe of yellow sandy beach this is just a fantastic spot to run, dig and play. It’s sheltered and sandy but with some fantastic rocks for rockpooling and searching out crabs and shrimps.

We spent a very happy morning here, with each of our children entertained by a different activity. There’s plenty to see, do and explore.

We really loved looking in the rock pools and spotting tiny fish darting around.

Whether digging in the sand, looking for curious colourful shells or simply running around the beach, this is a wonderful sandy spot and perfect for little ones to have space to explore.

2. Trevone Bay

This is the perfect beach for family trips out. With an ice cream van at the ready and a huge sandy stretch with enough rock pools for exploring.

3. Booby’s Bay – yes it’s really called that – is a beach to drive the imagination of little minds.

Full of jagged rocks and crashing waves you can imagine the shipwreckers coming across the land to pick up their treasures. To add to the imagery is the fact that you can actually see the timbers of a shipwrecked boat sticking through the water at different tides.

Cornwall is wonderful at any time of the year but in Autumn you can really see and appreciate it at its best.

Do you have a favourite Cornish beach?
