Hotel Review – Cardiff – Park Plaza

Posted on August 25, 2013

Hotel and Location.

The Park Plaza Cardiff is an award-winning hotel in the middle of the city and absolutely ideal for seeing the sights – it is close to Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium and within walking distance of lots of other key locations so a great base from which to explore.

It has a spa on one of the floors which has a fantastic indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi and is available to hotel guests…so pack that swimsuit!

It also has free wifi throughout which is always great.

They have rooms from the usual standard up to suites. The suite we stayed in had 3 beds, a huge bathroom and looked out onto the trees and a river and felt very peaceful.

The best bits:

The rooms at the hotel are really great but the bathrooms are fabulous! Loads of nice little products to enjoy, double sink and a HUGE bath to sink into, full of bubbles, at the end of a sightseeing day! There’s also a separate shower.

Breakfast was great – big pots of coffee or tea, loads of fruit, fresh fruit juices, pastries, breads, cheeses, pancakes, cereals….and on and on…and that’s before you even get to the hot food and a chance for a full Welsh fry-up!! (Please note, in my photograph below the breakfast was not all for me…honest!!)

Worth bearing in mind:

If you are arriving by car there is no parking at the hotel but there is an NCP car-park opposite and the Park Plaza will give you a card to get 20% off those prices.

Child Friendly?

Very child friendly. The suite was perfectly set up for a family, with room for full sized beds for the children as well as space for a cot and a sofa, so there really was plenty of space.

My children fell in love with the pancake machine at breakfast – one click of a button and out come two pancakes!! I’m slightly concerned by our six year old’s insistence that we need one at home!

Check-out isn’t until 12 so there is plenty of time for a swim in their lovely pool – we spent an hour there having a splash about before going back to the room to get ready and check out…a great way to start the day.

Ready to book?

Want to make a weekend of it?

See how to turn it into a trip with restaurant suggestions and fun things to do here –

We stayed as guests of Park Plaza for the purpose of this review but all views are my own.
